One of Canada's top ranked antiques fairs will be happening this Saturday in Dundas, Ont. Over 300 quality dealers from across the country, in a well run and well juried show (I have a friend who couldn't get in as a dealer because his shop still needs to be inspected, or something like that, to see if he would be acceptable !!). I have made some great finds at this show including A&C furniture (and I know of at least one specialist A&C dealer who will be there this year). Any fellow Canucks planning to be there???? I think I'll take my camera and get a few shots for the forum.

Stonecat,
What a great idea to take shots of the items at the show and post them. Good luck in your search and may you find and buy treasures. Fred Fred (Moderator) http://fredz49.blogspot.com/ |

Christie Antique Show Diary, May 28, 2005
(first off, I hope all my pictures work and are in order - if not, just figure it out somehow!) ..the view from the parking lot was looking good; 300 dealers set in a conservation area setting of trees and ponds ..the eager antique hunters lined up waiting for the gates to open - this is one of four entrances ..inside the fun begins - nice dealer booth; L.&J.G. Stickley table centre left (round top) ..a few nice pieces in this booth - Roseville dual candle holder on the right, Vetcraft silver wash over copper bowl on the left (which I quickly snatched up) ..a couple beefy sideboards in another booth ..a terrific floor lamp, unsigned and priced at $3500.00 (also photographed for the Upper Canadian antiques journal) ..a booth full of Arts and Crafts treasures ..and now my purchases - Vetcraft handled bowl as mentioned earlier ..a crazy looking (hey why not!) bronze and copper candle holder, signed Szabogy (found nothing in a Google search attributed to this name) ..a near mint condition Bradley and Hubbard cedar lined bronze cigarette box; more Deco than A&C but too cheap to pass up ..a nice railway book from 1925 showcasing the great spots along one of Canada's classic coast to coast rail routes ..and because I don't have enough refinishing projects to work on already, a 1/4 cut and dovetailed file box marked Toronto Specialty Office Supply to go with one I already have Overall, a great antiques show that happens again in the Fall. I saw alot of great stuff and almost bought a couple more pieces but I was working on a budget and the line was too long at the cash machine anyways! I also saw some old friends and made some new contacts in the A&C world. I will definately be back to this one. |

Hey David, (stonecat)
Thank you for posting these wonderful pictures as they are simply outstanding. Sorry for any misunderstanding from before. Oh, by the way, would you please go back to the post that you singled me out and delete it? Since you are the original poster it is only common courtesy that you do it. Respectfully, Ralph Jones www.ralphjoneswoodworking.com |

Ralph, I assume you have figured this out by virtue of your other post: Hey Stonecat, This could get confusing, as I thought it was you writing the slanderous post, sorry about that. Email me at Ralj7@AOL.com, this invitation also is for anyone else who wishes to hold an intelligent conversation. Respectfully, Ralph Jones -------- I am not the David Rossman clown from the other thread therefore I cannot delete it. I would really like to see all the postings by Rossman and the Wood Master deleted - I believe you deleted several messages that were commercial advertisements, but I would hope that between you, Fred, and Carol that the rest of the junk that is now cluttering up several threads, can be cleaned out. People will still be turned off by this forum if the other spam is left up - there are still several messages reflecting poor taste and judgement by these Rossman and Wood Master guys and if they return they will surely feel free to keep it up, and then delete any message where we have discussed this, such as this one, just to be thorough. |
