Don't forget the upcoming major auctions. Both Treadway and Rago are in the next couple of weeks.
Online catalogs for both were posted. Rago has some especially nice early Gus. www.treadwaygallery.com www.ragoarts.com |

Don / jayk, in case you wanted an authentic momento of your trip, you just missed your chance, check this guy out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/GROVE-PARK-INN-CHAIR-MISSION-ARTS-C...QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem He's listed as being in Asheville and this chair just listed and sold tonight as a Buy It Now. Read back through his buyers feedback, chairs and lamps, and see if you smell anything fishy. Needless to say I think this stinks. He has been selling his GPI chairs for some time now - he's up to several of these. I sent him a message about these, weeks ago, asking him to show the White Bros. mark to try to confirm authenticity - he replied he was just assuming they were White Bros. and that there was no mark. I like the ones that also have the Roycoft logo, and what about that Roycroft private school rocker that he literally gave away. Also, not listed in his feedback yet is a copper tray he called Stickley but it was clearly a Mexican fake made by the Cobre company (who also make Roycroft fakes that show up on eBay); he just sold this last week and I sent the buyer a message to tell him. I previously sent the seller a message challenging him about authenticity - he never responded. Unreal. |

Dear Stonecat,
According to his info on the web, he has been an antique dealer for 17 years. Almost everything that he is selling on the web has missing tags (you can see where it was and the nail holes)or says era, etc. He has only one chair, painted brown with an L G Stickley info burned into the back slat that is going for $10 right now. Also, the mirror and bench look new? The mirror just doesn't look right--it is too gaudy and with way too much detail. What do you think of that set, Stonecat? He does have one good dining room chair but it is English Arts and Crafts. It owes a lot to the Rene MacIntosh Scottish school of A & C or early Art Deco. He has it overpriced at over $300. This is somebody I would never buy from. Thanks for the heads-up. I wish that there was some legal way to make him stop selling. I guess that it is a classic case of "Buyer Beware". Bev. |

Bev - are you sure you're looking at the same guy? I only see him as having one other item listed, as of now,...a Monterey style chair.
