photos document before and after in a refinish project.

i bought the chair at a yard sale for $35. as you can see in the pics, the finish is very dark shellac with what looks like several very sloppy overcoats, hence the drips.

the photo under the arm shows the original color i think.

i have started cleaning it with alcholol to remove the shellac and have uncovered beautiful quartered oak as expected.

when i get the whole chair uniform, i will shellac and wax.

That is going to be one beautiful chair once you get the dirt off and the patina is showing through for the first time in many a year.
